The instructions below are for the metalized parachute kits for sale on this web store. The chute kits are available in red (shown here), gold, and silver.

Please note that the reflectiveness of the parachutes doesn't show very well in pictures. They are highly reflective for optimal visibility.

Part list Each model rocket parachute kit includes the following parts : instruction sheet, parachute canopy, shroud line, sheet with tape discs.

Shroud Line Start by carefully removing the tape from the shroud line. Gently unravel the shroud line. Take your time, as you don't want to have the line tangle and you certainly don't want any knots.

Tape Discs Remove the protective tape discs from the sheet, one by one, and apply to each corner of the parachute's canopy. Sometimes the center part of the tape disc will lift from the sheet too. If it does, remove the middle part before applying to the canopy.

Create Holes Create a hole in the center of each tape disc, through the exposed canopy. It is important that the canopy material doesn't rip when you create the hole, which is why a hole punch is recommended.

Shroud Lines Loop one end of shroud line material through a hole and tie a double knot. Place a dot of glue on the knot. During use, the loops tend to tighten over time, eventually cutting into the canopy. The glue helps prevent this by keeping the loops open.

Hint If you're having trouble tying a double knot in the loop without the loop tightening, you can use a sharpie (or similar) to tie the loop around.

Folding The Model Rocket Parachute Your model rocket parachute is now ready for use. Fold it in half a few times, until you get a point, as shown in the picture. Now fold the point of the parachute onto the bottom of the canope. Continue to fold in half until it fits in the rocket. Wrap the shroud cords around the canopy. Don't forget to attach the parachute to the rocket.
