The Kappa series was a Japanese sounding rocket series. The first flight was in November 1962. The project developed into the Lambda and Mu satellite launchers.

A big scale model rocket, the ASP Kappa-9M is over 3 1/2 feet long (43.25"). That should draw attention at just about any launch.

Dr Zooch Rockets Mark II

Unlikely the other Dr Zooch flying rocket kits, this isn't a scale model of an existing vehicle. It does have that unique space program look and feel.

The Dr Zooch Mark II model rocket stands 12.2" tall and has a 2.93" fin span. Weight without motor should be around 2.4 oz.

This is one of the easier-to-build Dr Zooch kits, so if you're looking for a first model kit with space program style, the Mark II may be just be a good first kit to buy.

Jupiter C Rocket Kit   Dr Zooch Rockets Jupiter C

This is a scale model of the rocket used to launch the first US satellite, as part of the space race.

The vehicle was known as the Explorer I, and the rocket was a slightly modified version of the Jupiter C, which some would call the Juno I.

The completed Dr Zooch Jupiter C model rocket is about 12" tall. It is one of the easier Dr Zooch kits to build and a great overall flier.

The Jupiter C kit is a single-stage flying model rocket which comes complete with balsa fin stock, pre-printed wraps, and plastic parachute.

The shock cord setup is a combination of Kevlar and elastic.

The Launch Pad Lance MGM-52 Tactical Battlefield Missile

As a successor of the Honest John, the Lance MGM-52 was capable of delivering a variety of payloads at high speed and with considerable precision.

The Launch Pad Lance model rocket is a skill level 2 kit and measures 28.75" tall (2.6" diameter). It flies on these Estes and Aerotech 24mm motors : D12-5, D12-7, E15-7 & F24-4.

This is a 1:9 scale model of the USA's first sounding rocket, the Wac Corporal. It was a liquid-fuel rocket and was first launched in 1945.

Fly it on any of these model rocket engines for serious fun : Estes C11-5, D12-7, E9-6, E9-8, or Aerotech E15-7 and E30-7.

With an adapter (not included) the WAC Corporal model rocket can also fly on the B4-2, B4-4, B6-4, and C6-5. That's a lot of motor choices for one kit.

Fliskits Nantucket Sound
